IELTS Test on Paper:

Paper based Test is examined at authorised official Test centers chosen by Test-takers where applicants are assessed on sections:

Listening Test Format:

(Duration:30 minutes)

Applicants can listen four audio recordings of native speakers based on them attempt consecutive questions.

Listening section is same for both IELTS Academic and General Tests.

Part 1: A dialogue between two native English speakers laid in an everyday general community-based issue.

Part 2: A soliloquy laid in a everyday general community-based issue, a lecture about local community issues.

Part 3: A dialogue setup within four people regarding an academic context or educational training. For instance: an institution tutor and a student conversation on a course work.

Part 4: A soliloquy on an academic topic, e.g. an institution lecture.

Reading Test classified into:

(Duration: 60 minutes)

Academic Training:

• This section comprises 40 questions in 60 minutes, designed to examine a vast range of reading abilities.
• This section includes three lengthy passages which range from illustrative and realistic to the digressive and analytic. Tasks are selected from books, magazines, newspapers, and journals.

General Training:

• This section comprises 40 questions in 60 minutes, designed to examine a vast range of reading abilities.
• This section includes three tasks: Task 1 perhaps contains two or three or more shorter texts, task 2 contains two texts, and task 3 consists of one long text. Tasks are selected from advertisements, notices, company guidelines, books, magazines, newspapers. In an English-speaking environment these kinds of materials are likely to encounter.

Writing Test Format:

(Duration: 60 minutes)

Academic Training:

This section comprises of 2 tasks, should complete within 60 minutes, designed to Test wide range of writing skills.

• Tasks are in general attraction to, and appropriate to, applicants joining undergraduate and post graduate programs or looking for professional registry.
• Task 1 is exhibited through a diagram, chart, table, and graph and questioned to narrate, summarise or describe the information in applicants' own words.
• In task 2 applicants are supposed to compose an essay writing in reply to an argument, opinion or problem. Reply to multiple tasks should in a formal format.

General Training:

This section comprises of 2 tasks, should complete within 60 minutes, designed to Test wide range of writing skills.

• Task 1 is exhibited through a circumstance and questioned to compose a letter seeking details or describing the circumstance.
• In task 2 applicants are supposed to write an essay in reply to an argument , opinion or problem. The essay should be justly personal format.

IELTS on Computer:

• Applicants can opt either IELTS Paper delivered Test or Computer delivered Test. Same as Paper delivered Test, applicants Computer delivered Test comprised of Listening section, Reading section, and Writing section. However, Speaking Test is an oral interaction between applicants and examiners. IELTS on computer-based Test is flexible with more Test dates available at convenient time for applicants, and they will receive Test scores within 3 days to 5days only.
• In all aspects, Paper based Test and Computer based Test comprised of exact pattern in terms of timing, content, Test report form and Question types.
• In IELTS Test, slightly Test time differs between computers based Test and paper based test in listening section because in paper based Test applicants are supposed to transfer their answers to answer sheet. While answering on a computer based Test, this step becomes redundant. Listening Test time between 30-34 minutes.

IELTS on Computer is currently available in: India.

Level required for admissions:

Just more than half (51%) of applicants take IELTS for higher education in abroad countries. According to institutions and by courses IELTS minimum scores vary.

• Most top ranked USA institutions require a minimum score of around 7.0.
• Most top ranked UK institutions require a minimum score of 6.5-7.0.
• Most top ranked Canadian institutions require a minimum score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0 in each module.
• Most top ranked Australian institutions require a minimum score of 6.5 with no band less than 5.5. According to the university precise requirements depend.

IELTS for Migration:

Countries such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and UK accept IELTS as evidence of English language proficiency for migration.

Australia:

For many visa categories, and for permanent residence visa ,The department of Home Affairs accepts IELTS Test score. Certain Australian Professional organisations and accrediting bodies required IELTS Test scores.

Canada:

The IELTS Test score evidence is considered for work visa and permanent Residency visa in Canada. The minimum score requirement depends on applicants' visa type, so applicants must ensure with the organisations.

New Zealand:

UK:

The IELTS Test score evidence is considered for work visa and permanent Residency visa in United Kingdom.

Payments:

Eligible Identity Document:

• A valid Passport Book not more than 10 years old.

How to register for IELTS Test:

• IELTS is fast and effortless for applicants’ registration.
• Applicants should find nearest official IELTS Test center.
• Around 140 countries, The IELTS Test centers are more than 1600, so applicants can be assured to have one near them.
• Applicants can do registration and payment through Online, or they have to, download application form for print, complete, and submit at applicants’ feasible official IELTS Test center.
• While applicants register through online ensure to fill according to their valid Passport ; same passport scanned copy should be uploaded and shown on Test day with validity.
• Applicants’ should not forget to provide a valid identity document (a valid passport book) copy at the time of their application submission at official Test center. Same identity document in original should be presented on the day of IELTS Test.
• Official IELTS Test center will send applicants a written confirmation of the date and time of their Test once applicants’ applications have been processed. Speaking Test may be conducted on the same day along with other three sections or up to seven days prior to the Test date or after Test date. Applicants’ test center will inform speaking test date.

Special arrangements:

If Test takers are required any special arrangements in case of difficulties such as Learning difficulties, hearing difficulties, visual difficulties, medical provisions or infant feeding, so The IELTS provides a comprehensive favor for Test takers in prior notice to the Test centers.

Results:

Results depend on whether applicants taken an IELTS paper-based Test or Computer-based Test.

• If applicants taken Paper-based Test(PBT), applicants’ Test scores Reports will be available within 13 days after the Test day. Applicants can check results from British Council network, IDP IELTS Australia network, and IELTS USA network, for all IELTS Test results.
• For Computer-based Test(CBT), applicants receive their Test scores results within 3 to 5 days after their Test date.
• Applicants receive one copy of their IELTS Test score report card, or two copies in case of applying to Canada (IRCC). Applicants can opt to receive by post or in person of their Test report copy.
• Applicants can view their Test Results Online up to 28days.(This can’t be produced as an official confirmation of their performance to any one)
• Respective IELTS Test center of applicants will issue a link to view online results.
• Through Enquiry on Results (EOR) service, applicants can request for review of their score(s) if they are not happy with their results. Depending on several reasons inclusive of number of sections applied for revaluation, results will be available in 2 to 21 days or else response not received; they should contact their test center. If there is change in their score band after EOR, the full fee paid for EOR is refunded.

Designated Institutions/Organisations receive results:

• While applicants register their Test, They can opt to send their IELTS scores result up to 5 organisations free of cost. If applicants fulfil additional charges, further designated institutions / organisations will receive their Test scores report. After Test date, with the help of Test center, applicants can send additional IELTS scores results.

Overall band score:

The overall band score is calculated based on individual four sections: Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing; average of four sections scores implies overall band score out of 9 band. When converting to total band score if average ends at 0.25 which will be rounded up at 0.5(half band) , again if average ends at 0.75 which will be rounded up at 1.0(whole band).

The following tables show number of questions to be answered correctly to score certain band in Listening section, Academic Reading section and General Reading section.

How to Reschedule / Cancel:

• Applicants can change their Test date chosen at the time of registration based on certain terms and conditions; request to be submitted at least five weeks prior to the Test date.
• In case of health illness or medical conditions with a valid medical certificate, applicants can reschedule within five week of the original Test date as well.
• Applicants are allowed to reschedule Test date only once; applicants new Test date must be within three months from the original registered date. Consequently, reschedule/ cancellation fee of minimum amount is applicable.
• Requests for reschedule can be done through online from their account and for offline rescheduling, applicants have to download form from IELTS official website then fill it and mail to the address mentioned on the form.
• If applicants cancel their IELTS Test five weeks prior to the registered Test date, applicants receive refund after the deduction of an administrative charge for reschedule/ cancellation of 3500INR (Inclusive of all taxes).

Change of Test center:

If applicants want to change Test center venue, date, and time, they can send an e-mail to test conducting body five weeks prior to the registered Test date . whether it is possible to change venue, date, and time , applicants receive acknowledgement mail confirmation from IELTS authorities.
